The "Balloon Boy" dad was just sentenced to 90 days in jail! Mom was sentenced to 20. Fair? Unfair? Should anything else be done?

Hmmmmm. Equal punishment may not have been fair depending on who the primary conspirator was. I haven't followed this too closely, so I don't know who talked who into doing it.

Now, it really isn't the first instance of stupidity known to mankind, and I'm sure it won't be the last. Why no one said, you know, I really don't think this is a good idea, is beyond me. Did she just go along with his dumb idea or was it planned equally?

In reality, he only has to serve 30 days as 60 of the days are on a work release. I guess that means he has to show up at night to jail but he is free during the day to find employment. There are a few sad things though.

Because his name is now a household name usually in the same sentence as probably idiot or something equally non-pleasant, will he be able to find work and thus support his family, especially now that he has a 42K bill coming in, which doesn't even include the voluntary man hours put in by people of the community to help with the search. She got 20 days and will serve after his sentence so, presumably one will be home with Falcon (we won't even go into the naming choice). So they have the jail time, have to pay back the money, and their names pretty much mean mud these day.

I would say they probably will have paid their dues for the stupid stunt. It's not like they killed someone or made the secret service look like a bunch of over-paid frat boys with guns and cool shades. (Note to secret service if you read this - just kidding; you guys are great; keep up the good work).

Our hoaxsters will hopefully be less inclined to try their hand in the entertainment industry after this (unless of course some nice movie studio would like to commission the rights to their story).

It was a fair sentence to me. They caused a lot of problems for a lot of people and that was done for self promoting reasons. I think the best part is they can't write a book or sell the movie rights.

I think the punishment should've been harsher simply because of the fact that the poor kid has to be known as "Balloon Boy" for the rest of his life. Sure people will forget, but I think this whole things has probably been very difficult for the kids and will be even more difficult growing up knowing that his parents are pretty much bananas. Even once people do forget about it, that will presumably be the kid's "secret" while growing up.

Always wondering if someone's gonna find out he's the "Balloon Boy". Can't hide stuff like that with the internet.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
