The snow here in N.Y. is just starting. I have two new books, plenty of food and drink, Christmas gifts all wrapped and?

1 Sounds like you are all set, LouLou! So what books do you have on hand? I have the newest Diana Gabaldon book, in the Outlander series, which is around 900 pages or so; I am holding on to that for next week, since I have 5 days off over Christmas.

I *love* to have the time to really crawl into a good book! I read 4 books (including the latest Stephen King, 1000+ pager) over the long Thanksgiving holiday, and really enjoyed my "stay-cation. " I have a bunch of other good reads waiting for me as well, but am really excited about the Gabaldon gook; I love the characters in her series, particularly Jamie and Claire. So stay warm, and enjoy your break from civilization!

2 Well, I have a book here too, but as for what I'm doing, obviously I'm on AV! I'm in NJ and the snow has been coming down for hours, we're not going anywhere! My daughter just gave me Julie and Julia, which I may start later, if I can tear myself away from the computer!

Enjoy your day! I'm not even getting out of my pj's! .

3 LouLou - have a good time! Snow is best enjoyed when looking out the window at it and watching the people who are nutty enough to try and drive in it sliding around all over the place! Enjoy your books and don't drink too much eggnog.

4 Seems like whenever the east coast gets a storm, we over here get a little bit of it at the same time or a few days later. We haven't had nearly as much snow as the last two years and yesterday was the first day we actually got enough snow to stick and make at least a small snowman in the yard. I took this time to assemble that gingerbread house and actually finish it.My daughter and I also made some salt dough ornaments, some fairy tables and chairs (mushrooms of various sizes) because we are going to make a fairy garden.

Fairies have to have tables, chairs, a little house and a clothesline with tiny clothespins to hang their laundry. I have been knitting a super long scarf for my slave driving son. You see, I only taught myself to knit and am not beyond the garter stitch and not past scarves.

He wants it striped and 6 feet long. I have a few books, some movies and some apple tea, wild berry tea and hot chocolate. That should be enough..right?

LouLou replied to post #1: 5 two Jodi Picoult books. Plain Truth and Vanishing Acts. Many years ago I use to be a huge Stephen King fan and read all of his books and as you know that were big books!

I will check out Diana Gabaldon I have not heard of her or her books. I stopped purchasing books since I ran out of room. Now I buy only special ones that I like to keep and many times read again.

I use the library a lot now. One good thing about having your children grown and being retired is that you have plenty of time to read. That is when I get my butt off askville.

Sometimes I wish I had never found this place! :) .

I did 50 dozen cookies and two winter gingerbread scenes! How much should I charge to bake 1 dozen homemade muffins? Have you ever made mini-cookies?

Are there any tricks? What kind of bread do you bake at home? What are your favorite home made gifts that people give you?

The snow here in N.Y. is just starting. How do you make cookies chewy or hard when you bake? Christmas gifts for neighbors?

We pass out baked goods, is that normal?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
