A lot of things ... in fact, most of the things, that Exist, cannot ... or would rather not exist ... if existence, were equated with the logical!
1. The supreme being by definition is omnipotent. The concept of the supreme being is marred by the ancient/modern churches definitions and descriptions of the supreme being.
The being they describe doesn't make logical sense, because they are trying to make an all encompassing being with no bad side, or the ability to have a bad side. Which implies a being that is lacking.2. Tough love may sometimes be allowing hardships to befall people that need the hardships to learn and develop, or season. It doesn't mean that just because your Dad let you fall over and skin your knee while teaching you how to ride without training wheels, that your Dad, or God, is bad or that they chose to do evil to you.
Being benevolent doesn't mean spoiling you.3. Evil exists because without evil goodness could not exist.4. You assume that worshipping earns you special treatment, it doesn't.
The only thing you get from "worshipping" is the feeling of peace that usually accompanies the feeling of being connected with God, with someone/something greater than yourself.
God doesn't really give a shit, assuming he's up there at all.

MIkel - intelligent answer. I differ with second para, however. As an example, the Jews killed in Auschwitz suffered pretty tough love, was that all just to teach the rest of us something?
What about mass murders which either take decades to be discovered, or, as I suspect, never get uncovered? As to the general philosophical debate, it naturally doesn't make sense using the terms mentioned. I'd personally say that good and evil are subjective entities and are concepts that have tracked the evolution of life in general.
Perhaps they are too loaded as terms to be useful.
The answer could be God is all powerful, people get what they deserve, they just do not understand why. Once they understand why unfavorable events have occurred in their lives, then they can find inner peace and God become all good again. Best wishes.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
