Townhouse owners with small plots of land: what do you cut the grass with?

When I say small plots of land, I mean like the size of a small bedroom. The only lawnmowers that I am familiar with would be silly to use when you could almost use scissors if you had some patience..... What are the best lawn care pieces of equipment to consider? A weed-wacker works fine Quicker than scissors, easier to store than a mower. Also consider replanting a moss or other non-grass green area that wouldn't require mowing. Weed wacker or manual hedge trimmer I had a similar dilemma for my home, but the grass was now in a normal square plot shape but decorative with other stone paths.
