Whart are some good ideas for short story writting? im trying to come up with ideas?

Dracaslair:I usually get ideas from a dream that I may have had as a kid. It could have been a fictional account or non-fiction and I turned that into a story. Also you could write a short story about experiences you had growing up.

You may have a story to tell about a boating incident, or camping trip that either turned out to be an unexpected romantic affair, or on the other hand, a nightmare in the making. As you can see there are many ideas you could use and also as Teresa mentioned...keeping a notebook of various ideas is also very useful. Good luck and I'm sure you will have no problem compiling a few stories.Jl.

I like stories about children and young people who have adventures, get in and out of trouble, learn new ways to survive. You could think about your first memories, first day at school or visit to a dentist or birthdays and writes about that. Remember the story line needs clear characters, rising interest, some sort of conflict or problem, a resolution or twist at the end.

Often if you just write what happened to you and others, and the outcome you will get your story line.

I keep a notebook and write down ideas as they come to me. I keep the notebook in my purse and sometimes while I'm on a break at work or people watching an idea comes to me. It helps to be ready to record it right away.

I love fantasy writing myself. The supernatural and psychic phenomenon figure prominently in a lot of my writing. A writing instructor of mine gave us a great exercise one day.

She brought in items from the garbage can - dry garbage including item packaging, newspaper sections, matchbook covers, etc. And asked us to create a character and creative writing piece based on these items. It was a fantastic 'story starter' and actually prompted more than one piece of writing. Good luck with establishing an idea bank for writing!

Writers prompts are very helpful and easily found by a Google search. I recommend them. Several of my stories were started that way.

All of my short stories are based on true happinings in my life or stories that my mother and father told me, If you don't have any experiences of your own, read as many short stories as you can and try to see how the stories begin, develop and end. I find that stories that mimic real life happenings are the most appealing to readers. They want to be able to picture themselves in the same situation.

92Rosie2010 saysYes, I believe writing stories on Hubpages is a good idea. I love reading short stories. Publishing your short stories here in HP gives you a good feeling that your friends and others will read your story.

Try it, you might like it. But as some people here say, if your purpose here in HP is to earn money, then there is no money in that.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
