I have found that elementary students can be very shy about reading out loud in front of other students. One way to help overcome this is to separate them into small reading groups within the classroom so they don’t feel as intimidated. I always told my students that everyone had to participate in circle reading, even if it was only one word, and of course, the shy ones would always take me up on this.
But after a few trips around the circle they would begin to read a sentence or two. Then they were off and running, and we had to have a second rule that limited them to a paragraph or two per turn. This age group loves to show off, and once they feel comfortable, they’ll read to anyone.
I also found giving them a special assignment to read to a younger group such as the kindergarten children helped improve their skills in a non-threatening way.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
