Quote- "The cochlear nerve is the sole input pathway from the cochlea to the central nervous system. The responses of fibres in the cochlear nerve can, to a first approximation, be considered as the rectified output of a bank of linear bandpass filters, which in most cases have limited dynamic ranges. The filtered waveform of low-frequency sounds can, nevertheless, be signalled over a wide intensity range in the fine temporal discharge pattern.
All fibres of the cochlear nerve terminate in the cochlear nucleus where, by contrast, there are many cell types and interconnections which result in diverse responses even to simple sounds. Responses in the ventral division of the cochlear nucleus resemble more closely those of cochlear nerve fibres than do responses in the dorsal division and many of the cells in the ventral division are true 1-to-1 relays of the cochlear nerve input. Neural inhibitory effects are more pronounced in the dorsal division and consequently the responses to sound there are more complicated." -end of quote.
Cochlear nerve is also called "auditory nerve" or "acoustic nerve". It is the only sensory nerve that transmits information from the cochlea to the brain. When we say "sensory nerve" it means that this type of nerve collates impulses or information from the environment that relates to sounds so that it can be transmitted to the brain and the brain is going to interpret it, thus, the person will be able to perceive what type of sound he is hearing, whether it's loud or soft, etc.At the image below, cochlear nerve is # 5.
Cochlear Nerve serves audition (hearing). -has first-order sensory bipolar neurons in the spiral (cochlear) ganglion of the modiolus of the cochlea, within the temporal bone. -projects peripheral processes to the hair cells of the organ of Corti.
-projects central processes to the dorsal and ventral cochlear nuclei of the brainstem. -conducts efferent fibers to the hair cells from the brains tern.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
