The only way to tell for sure is to either see the cat eat the food or find remnants of the food ---the most obvious signs are vomiting and diarrhea ---depending on the type of food and how long it has been sitting botulism can also be a problem in which you will see neurological problems .

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
