It turns out that these women are significantly younger than he is and he meets them online in semi-pornographic chat rooms. So he’s whining about not finding the "right" woman.

And his friend, the woman sitting there, says to him, "Be a man. " In that moment in that story, what she was telling him was to be accountable for his actions. Realize that the woman you want to take home to your mother and marry and live happily ever after with is most likely not half your age.

You may be saying you want to be in a "real" relationship, but your actions are those of a hormonally charged 15-year-old. A "perfect" guy/boyfriend/husband knows what he wants to do with his life and knows that a strong partner can make that journey more enjoyable. He knows that his gal/girlfriend/wife has goals for herself and he respects and supports them.

He works with her to create a loving home for their successes and failures. Seeing that finding a perfect person is perfectly impossible, I’d say that someone who has pretty good ideas about most of those things would make a good boyfriend/husband.
