It goes with mauve very well, I have a gray rug in the dining room and the window trim is mauve, the 1/2" edge of the cupboards are burgundy. In the spring I change the curtains to a light blue but in winter the burgundy curtains give it a warm feeling. , No one has ever said that you can't build your color scheme with the same colors, and they do match very well.

Change the counters Sorry, but mauve is soooo done. If there is one single thing you could do for yourself it would be to install new countertops. I can't even imagine living with that color.
