In volunteering to represent the best interests of a child, you are statutorily charged with several duties. Most importantly, you need to develop a relationship with your client. You will want to make sure you understand the reasons the child entered foster care (if you have a foster care case), and ensure that the Children's Department is doing what is necessary to remedy those issues.
