Sorry to hear about your problem with kidney stones. I wish I knew what else would help you.
The only thing that I know of is surgery to remove them. But someone else may know of another way to help ease the pain for you.
The doctor should give you something for the pain.
No way I heard about the surgery, not up for it right now. Thanks rainbowsun.. ArabianKnightress 5 months ago .
I have a few pain meeds but don't like to take them unless I really need too. They are serious meds. ArabianKnightress 5 months ago .
Yes they are. I don't like the feeling of not being in control. ArabianKnightress 5 months ago .
If the pain is anything like gallstone pain,Then I know what you are going through. You're having some serious pain going on with you.
That's what my mom says. She does not like the feeling of not being in control either. I don't either.
But I can't stand the pain too much either.
Its worse than that. I had my gallbladder removed from stones a few years back. This pain is equivalent to labor pains when you get to the one minute for one minute long.. right before birth.

I know the pain has got to be keeping you awake.
Ohhhhh! That kind of pain yikes!. It's like labor pains!
That hurts all the way over here. I feel for you AK,that a lot of pain. I'm sorry to hear that it is that bad :( .
Thank you rainbowsun, but its something I am very familiar with and have no choice but to face.. ArabianKnightress 5 months ago .
I know what my labor pains was like with both of my sons. I had some serious labor pain. So if your kidney stone pain is anything like my labor pain was.
Then I know you are in some terrible pain.
Oh dear AK. I wish I knew something that could help. Please get well soon.
People tell me that kidney stones are painful. I will keep checking on you. But please don't wait to long to do something about the pain and the stones.
Terrible... ArabianKnightress 5 months ago .
I know you are in terrible pain my friend. Pain is never a pleasant thing to go through. I will be worried about you.
But I will check on you. Having anything like labor pains is not so good. :( .
Thank you, I'm going to go rest a bit now. See you later.. ArabianKnightress 5 months ago .
Oh that's right I forgot about the metal rod in your back! Arrrrgh! Ak!
That is serious. I forgot about that.
Yes,Try and rest. I will check with you later.
I had my stone removed by something I call "rotor rooter" but they said was a "basket procedure. " My brother in law has had the explosive process and it seems better. But since I had my stone removed I changed my diet to avoid some foods and drank a lot more water.
They never happened again. And that was over 30 years ago. Good luck.
You never want another one.
The "rotor rooter" I've heard about lol :) I would go for that procedure first. Can't do the explosive because I have a metal rod attached to my spine and no one can tell me what can happen to me, so I'm afraid. Curious, what foods do you avoid?
If you don't mind me asking? I hear you,,"You never want another one"... ArabianKnightress 5 months ago .
Foods with oxalates as much as is reasonable and I never cut down on calcium. It can bind up the oxalates in the digestive tract and they never bother you. But for many years after I had ten glasses of water a day and three were before bed.
Yes, I did get up at night. But better that than the hospital. I do not drink as much water now, but I still get a lot and a large glass before bet every night.
Good luck. I made a link that may help. Org/wiki/Kidney_stone.
Wow that was very informative! Thank you for always being so helpful :) ArabianKnightress 5 months ago .
Some old herbal books say a tea made of marshmallow root, gravel root, and hydrangea will dissolve kidney stones and make their passage out of the body easier. The same books also say that watermelon seeds are also useful. Check out curezone.Com great website for natural healing.
Of course it is always recommend that you ask a doctor before trying anything, no matter how long it has been in use.
Thanks! The link was incredible! ArabianKnightress 5 months ago .

Thank you! That almost sounds too good to be true. I will look into it further.

You're welcome, I hope this is one time when the saying is false. " If it sounds to good to be true, it probably isn't" Good luck, let us know how things work out.
If you're going the natural route, I really suggest you make some white tea. Buy high quality silver needle white tea, you may have to order from amazon. Consume four 16oz cups a day, but make sure you space them out.
Don't drink anything BUT the white tea if you can. It has shown to prevent kidney stones, I don't know whether or not it can get rid of them, though. Com/Potrero-Tea-Organic-Silver-Needle/dp/B004AD41DK/ref=sr_1_10?

Hmmm..I do prefer to do things the natural way..Never thought of White Tea. I know tea of all kinds is very medicinal so why not :) Thank you! 4-160z cups,,I will be drinking all day, like I am now :( I feel like I'm going to float away soon... ArabianKnightress 5 months ago .
A friend had his stones removed, broken up, etc with a sonic treatment. Can't remember the procedure, except I believe he was in a tank of water which helped transmit the energy, I googled'sonic removal of kidney stones' and found a lot of information.
Yes I've heard of that..The Dr.s cannot tell me what would or could possible happen to me due to the metal bar I have attached to my spine. But I will ask again :) Thank you! ArabianKnightress 5 months ago .
Of course, I got my medical training reading Band-Aid boxes, but if I were threatened with kidney stones frequently, I would be inclined to try the supplement approach. Good luck on the treatment, whichever you choose.
My mom had them many years ago, not sure how they got them out, but she was on the diet Gary was talking about, and it worked for her. Also my kitty, Rudy had them in 2009, and kidney failure, and his situation is also controlled by diet. I'll pray for you.
The diet helps keep new ones from forming, but you gotta get those ones out of there! .
I hear you..no more low/no carb diets I guess :( Gary4books posted a great link for me to read. Hope all is well with your mom and Rudy! I feel their pain.
Thank you cbc6529 I'm working on it! :) ArabianKnightress 5 months ago .
You'll get pain medication - either an IV opioid analgesic (like morphine or Demerol), an NSAID called Toradol that's pretty useless for everything except kidney stone pain, or a mixture (I've found the mixture to work best). They'll also probably give you an anti-nausea drug, both for the nausea caused by the stone itself and to combat the barfiness the drugs cause. Once you're medicated, they'll probably send you for a CT scan to see how many stones there are, exactly where in the urinary tract they're located, and how big they are.
Generally, stones smaller than 5 mm. In diameter are left where they are because they're usually small enough to pass naturally. If your stones are larger, you'll be sent in for a ESWL (extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy): a procedure that uses sonic waves to break up the stones.
If the stones are passing naturally, you'll be given a funnel to pee in until you actually catch a stone; you'll need to save this and bring it to the doctor's office to be evaluated. Depending on the type of stone, the doctor will then be able to recommend treatment. Most stones caused by a US diet are made up of calcium oxalate.
Assuming that you're following the norm and have this type of stone, the doctor will probably start the following treatments: potassium citrate (Urocit-K) and/or magnesium citrate to alkalinize your urine, hydroclorothiazide (a "water pill") to increase urinary volume, and a low oxalate diet. You should also make an appointment to see a urologist as soon as possible; he or she can order a test called a stone risk profile. You'll be given a jug to void in over 24 hours, and they can use the results to find out the values of a whole bunch of different nutrients, minerals and other urinary statistics that will enable them to tailor your treatment.
If the doctors don't bring up this test, ask for it - it's the best tool anyone has for knowing how to prevent more stones. Another good prevention tip is to drink lemonade; the citric acid in the lemonade raises your urinary citrate levels and helps to prevent new oxalate stone formation. If you do have a kidney stone, I also recommend the book I've added below.
It's co-authored by a lay person who suffers from stones and a urologist and does an excellent job of explaining what's going on in your body and what you can do about it. Unfortunately, once you've had one stone, the risk of having others is much higher. Good luck - I feel your pain (literally)!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
