What is a Christmas tradition for you or your family?

My boyfriend always opens his Christmas gifts in front of a fire. He says they always had one going Christmas morning and even last year when we did our gift exchange he had started a fire. I really can't think of one for my family, but would love to hear yours.

My family always reads the night before Christmas and bakes cookies for Santa on Christmas eve This brings us closer even though the kids are older now .

Cookie decorating & Live Nativity Scene The cookie decorating is more my mother-in-laws tradition but we participate and its always a good time. She makes about a billion sugar cookies each year for Christmas gatherings and our family and my sister in laws family and my brother in law and his girlfriend always come help decorate. The table is covered with 3000 different toppings and there are usually crazy ones the kids make, and intricate ones I make and perverted ones my brother in law makes :) Its always a great time and I feel its one of our traditions now too.

Also my husband and I and our daughters always go to a local nativity scene and recall and retell the storty of Jesus's birth and we always end up driving thru several times. Its something important to me and means alot to me that I can see it becoming an important tradition to my kids too.

A silly tradition, but we like it Every year we dig out the movie "National Lampoon’s Christmas". We can almost recite the dialog, we’ve watched it so much. If we don’t sit & watch it, it’s playing while we open presents.

I make reference to the movie in things all year round. For instance, when we have a squirrel in our feeder, in my mind I’m yelling "squuuuuirrel! " If my husband’s doing something with his chain saw, I’ll think "fixed the newel post!"

It’s my all time favorite Lampoon movie, & Christmas just isn’t Christmas without all of us sitting around watching it. Clark Griswald for President! Sources: what we do .

We go to taco bell and then to our favorite glory hole.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
