What is going to be the best way to make sure all questions that are answered get helpful votes so they don't sit there for months?

I suggest a TAB should be added like "QUESTIONS WITH ANSWERS THAT NEED VOTES", if Mahalo will not remove the "UNANSWERED FIRST" in the SORT system.

Unfortunately, it isn't as good as you seem to think it is :(. The current setup is such that a question with one or more answers at the end of 5 days, where the asker did not select a Best Answer (which anon obviously will never do), and where none of the answers have any "helpful" votes, that question gets an automatic NBA. I've already lost more than a dozen answers to this "feature" just from the past month.

Some possible solutions: - Currently available: use the Spy feature and see which questions are about to expire and make sure the answer(s) have votes on them. If tied, the question goes into sudden-death where the first tie-breaker decides the BA. - Currently available: post questions with lists of endangered answers and ask for community votes.

- New possibility: if a question has one or more answers at the end of day 5, no BA selected, and no helpful votes, treat it as a tied vote and put it in sudden-death. - Another option: questions that currently get auto-NBA'ed should be sent to upper belt members who did not ask or answer them to get adjudicated. Jason says they are looking at this problem but for now is calling on the community to vote, vote, vote.

This will likely not be changed in the coming weeks.

I think we should simply have the same undecided tab available, but instead of newer questions that just opened up for votes, we put in a chronological or by-category list of older questions that either need vote-ups or tie-breakers. I also like the idea of that sort of thing being available in "spy. " I also think there needs to be some incentive in voting an answer helpful.

Many people don't vote answers up at all, and maybe with the addition of a one-point per vote (only one point can be gained for each question to stop people from just voting up every answer. You can still vote up more than one, just only get a point for the first), and then a cap relating to belt level like there was for voting for best answer. I think this would take care of creating best answers right away so there won't be any need for such an archive of older, undecided or tied questions.

Of course, there should still be an option for these older answers, since people will of course be answering old questions as well as new, but I think a point incentive will clear up a lot of the issues.

Its been suggested in another thread on this topic using the spy view, and setting up questions that need helpful votes before they go NBA. So far this seems like the only option for questions that the asker does not decide mahalo.com/answers/mahalo-answers-sugges....

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
