Im confused about the answers to this question because I just had a torn meniscus tear repaired and arthritis taken out as well. I went into a surgery center in the morning and out that afternoon. I had no crutches I was in pain but walked out.
I also had my first of 2 thearpy sessions the very next day. I have been walking on it though it is stiff and doing the exercises they told me to do. The doctor gave me a release to return to work a week later.
I return to work Saturday. My husband had it done about 8 yrs ago and he did better then I have. He had no pain and back to work the next week and no problems since.
I think if your going to have any surgery done do your homework and find the right doctor for you,not just one your doctor refers you to.
Kwolf, recovery time is different for each and every one of us. I am a 69 yr old female that had athroscopy surgery one week ago today. I didn't need the crutches and was able to hobble a bit the first day.
I have had a few days that the knee didn't bother me at all but there are days where it is very stiff and very sore. My biggest problem is that I also have a neuroma and sciatica in the same foot and leg, don't know if this contributes to the healing or not. I'm trying to do this without pain meds as they upset my stomach.
I will be starting physio therapy next week and hopefully this will speed the recovery time. I believe that the pain and stiffness is more from the expansion of the area and the tools being in place rather than the cuting of the meniscus as the back of my knee does not have any pain to speak of. It's all in the front and sides of the knee and feels only muscle deep.
You my be one of those people that does not have any arthritis and have very healthy knees. Please don't let people think that because they are taking longer than you to heal that they did not have a good surgeon. I had a very good surgeon that has been in sports medicine for many years.
2 I am a physical therapist. Generally meniscus tears are not repaired but removed. In this type of surgery you will be on crutches for a couple of days and should be able to walk around and do stairs within the week.
Although the surgery is not complicated, swelling, pain, and limited range of motion after surgery can prolong recovery. Recovery depends also on your age and the amound of swelling and stiffness prior to surgery. You should be OK to return to sports, expect at least 2 months.
If you want to get back to activity faster, ask for physical therapy after surgery to help progress things along. For more information on meniscus tears, visit:joint-pain-solutions.com/meniscus-tear.h... luck.
The average recovery time on surgery is for a torn meniscus (without quotes):.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
