What is the best area to get an apartment in Austin in the mid-level price range?

Girl, the wife and I were just doing this too - we may be neighbors! ;) I went to the link below, clicked on Apartment Search and put in a little info - about an hour later, I got a call from THE NICEST young lady who was super excited to help with everything from finding a place in our price range to helping us find affordable movers. Since my family lives in Austin, I'm pretty familiar with the town, so to answer your questions: All parts are "safe" except the East Side.

You want to live in North Austin, South Austin, Downtown or near Mo-Pac (a major highway connecting North and South Austin on the West side). Shopping is best downtown naturally, but it's pretty congested down there. Fortunately, everything is pretty close, so driving distance is reasonable.

All of the clubs and bars and cool shops are downtown (and just FYI - the cool locals go to 5th street, not 6th. You'll find this out soon! ) Anyway, to avoid the college kids, you'll want to avoid the UT campus which also is spread out over downtown.

When you talk to the apt locator, make sure you mention it and they will steer you in the right direction. Mostly, North or South Austin will be your best bet (more than likely South Austin - North Austin can go up into Round Rock and Georgetwon which is kind of a hike to get downtown) as there are some really nice places in your price range. We were looking at apts in the Wells Branch area - kind of suburb-ish, but still a pretty happenin spot for people our age (post college grads with jobs who have to go to work the next day!) The apts there are really nice and still pretty affordable.

Awesome! Have fun!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
