2008 Monday night football Cowboys come back from behind against the Buffalo Bills.
In the 2005 UEFA Champions league Final the way Liverpool returned, after being 0-3 down, against AC-Milan has to go down as one of the Best Sports Comebacks. In another option , I would also like to add India's comeback against Australia in 2001 Test Series (Cricket) in India. The way VVS Laxman, Bhajji and Rahul Dravid played still brings a smile to my face.
Tracy McGrady's 13 points in 33 seconds on a way to defeating San Antonio I 2004.
Everyone is going to be biased with this question. Hopefully you take into account what was on the line for the game. The Sox/Yankees Championship Series was a great comeback but the stakes were only for the ALCS...had it been for the World Series that would be another thing.
Another popular comeback is the 1984 Winter Olympics and the USA hockey team vs. the USSR. My suggestion is the 1984 Orange Bowl game with Boston College vs. University of Miami. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hail_Flutie http://www.bc.edu/bc_org/rvp/pubaf/chronicle/v13/n18/miracle.html http://www.sptimes.com/News/102099/Sports/Flutie_s__Hail_Mary__.shtml http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-qkpsygNYo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3ykWbu2Gl0.
1982's Stanford vs. Cal State's infamous game with "The Play" Down by 1 point with only a couple of seconds left on the clock, and the band coming out on the field because it was pretty much Game Over. youtube.com/watch?v=5bhbuEDYHho.
The Philadelphia Eagles if they somehow pull through this season will be up there.
(August 1972) Lasse Viren triped and fell in the Olympic 10,000m final only to get up and win gold in a world record time. In Munich of all places. It's gotta be the best of all time.
Also not really a "comback" per say but the 1991 giants superbowl was exciting to the last second.
Biggest comeback in college football history usatoday.com/sports/college/football/gam....
2004, not a game but an entire series when the BoSox beat the Yankees in the AL Championship after being down 3-0. They are the only team to ever come back from 3-0 and did it with the curse of the Bambino hangin over their heads. They went on to win their first world series in forever.
Here are some captions from the game. * October 16, 2004: The Yankees defeat the Red Sox 19–8 at Fenway Park in Game 3 of the ALCS, taking a 3–0 lead in the series after the longest nine-inning postseason game in history. * October 17, 2004: The Yankees enter the ninth inning only three outs away from their 40th American League pennant.
Closer Mariano Rivera allows a walk to Kevin Millar, and a stolen base from pinch-runner Dave Roberts allows him to score on a single from Bill Mueller to tie the game in the ninth. David Ortiz keeps the Red Sox alive in the series with a two run walk-off home run in the bottom of the twelfth inning to give the Red Sox a 6–4 win. * October 18, 2004: David Ortiz ends the longest game in ALCS history (breaking a record set two nights ago) with a walk-off single in the bottom of the fourteenth inning in Game 5.
The Red Sox overcome a two-run deficit in the 8th inning, one coming from a David Ortiz home run off Tom Gordon, the other from a sacrifice fly by Jason Varitek off Rivera, who records his second blown save in as many games. * October 19, 2004: Curt Schilling pitches seven innings for the Red Sox in Yankee Stadium and wins, 4–2, despite having sutures put into his right ankle, which causes blood to visibly soak into Schilling's sock. Yankee fans protest a reversed call - Alex RodrÃguez being called out at first base after slapping the ball out of Boston pitcher Bronson Arroyo's glove - by littering the field as police with riot gear took positions near the foul lines.
The Red Sox become the first team in major league history to tie a series after being down 3 games to none. * October 20, 2004: The Red Sox defeat the Yankees 10–3 in Game 7 at Yankee Stadium, becoming the first team in baseball history (and only the third team in major league sports) to win a seven-game series after losing the first three games, and giving the team its 11th American League pennant, marking the first time in 100 years that Boston had defeated New York to claim the AL title.
Honestly, I would have to go with last year's Superbowl, with the Giants coming back to beat the Patriots. It had me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn't believe that catch actually...got caught! Eli Manning proved a lot that day, that's for sure.
I happen to be partial to my Chargers coming back on the Chiefs this last week from a deficit of 10-21 in the last 2 minutes. They scored a touchdown, went for a 2 point conversion and missed. They kicked an onside kick and recovered, and then scored again and missed the 2 pointer leaving the final score at 22-21, and all in less than 2 minutes.
Granted, they had 3 timeouts, but they only used 1, I think. Sure, it was pretty recent, and maybe won't even matter if the Broncos win this week, but it was very impressive for a team that has blown it all year and lost 8 games already.
Definitely the Music City Miracle: It was a playoff game -- the 2000 AFC Wild Card, and the Bills lead, 16-15 with 16 seconds left on the clock. The Bills kicked off, expecting the game to end during the kickoff (or soon after). But the game didn't end that way... not at all.
Check out the first lateral, though -- the big controversy is whether it was a legal one, as it may have been an (illegal) forward lateral.
1995 NBA Playoffs Eastern Conference Semis Game 1 Reggie Miller caps a 31-point game by scoring eight points over an 8.9-second span, wiping out a six-point Knicks lead and giving Pacers series-opening 107-105 win at stunned MSG.
I have two comebacks (take your choice on the best): 1. Cal-Standford (1982) - "The Band is on the field! "...5 laterals, player running into a trombone player, John Elway's Stanford team one tackle away from a victory.
2.2004 ALCS - Red Sox vs. Yankees - How sweet is it to beat your bitter rival when you are down 0-3 in the series.4 straight games, win the world series - curse is gone, and they have to remake a movie ending (Fever Pitsch).
That's a tough one. This one probably won't win the prize, but I think Boise State vs. Oklahoma a couple of years ago in the Fiesta Bowl does it for me. Classic David vs. Goliath, and probably the best college football game I've ever seen in my lifetime.
One of the best soccer matches I've seen. 2005 UEFA Champions League final. Liverpool vs AC Milan.AC Milan went up 3-0 at the half, everybody thought it was over, but Liverpool scored 3 goals on the second half and went on to win it on penalty kicks.
That's enough writing from me, here you go.
Lakers vs. Kings Western Conference Finals!
Formula 1: Brazilian GP, when from what seemed like Lewis Hamilton had lost the Title for second time, during the last lap due to Timo Glock not changing his tyres to wets started to slow down. Therefore on the last lap of the GP when Massa and Co were celebrating thinking their had won, Hamilton passed Glock to take the Title. In 2007 he lost the title by 1 points, but in 2008 he had won it by by 2008.
Five unanswered Reich touchdowns put the Bills up, but the Oilers tied it up with a field goal. In overtime, Nate Odomes picked off Warren Moon to set up the most improbable of victories and greatest NFL comeback in history. Final score: 41-38 for the Bills.

Greg lemond - 1989 tour de france - the last day of the tour is usually a formality and a celebration of the past month of the world's most difficult sporting event. In 1989 the tour organizers decided to have a time trial on the final day into paris. Lemond down by 50 seconds going into this final stage gained nearly a minute to finish in first place by a mere 8 seconds (smallest margin of victory in tour history).
It doesn't sound like much but gaining 58 seconds over a such a short distance (15.5 miles) is nearly impossible and it was thought lemond had no chance. Lemond's time trial was the fastest even ridden in the tour until 2005 and was the fastest individual time trial over 10km up to that point. Now some people may poo-poo cycling but there are a number of historical points that made this even more special.
Lemond rode the race with 27 shotgun pellets still in his body (2 in the lining of his heart) after an off-season hunting accident. Laurent fignon was lemond's main french rival and a huge race favorite. Pedro delgado and miguel indurain were also in the race (delgado won the previous year and was considered one of the top favorites and indurain would go on to win the tour 5 straight times from 91-95).
The race could be considered one of the last 'old style' tours where riders made individual decisions on the fly and rode crazy hard. Lemond also rode with areo bars which at the time were considered a novelty in the pro tours but are now commonplace. I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
