Genital crabs or pubic crabs can be treated effectively by using over-the-counter or prescription that usually comes in a form of shampoo. Over-the-counter products contain Pyrethrin 1% or Pymethrin 1% while the active ingredients that are found in shampoos is Lindane 1%. In order to treat pubic crabs, the area should be thoroughly washed and dried.
Put the shampoo making it sure that hair is saturated too. Don' t rinse it yet, leave the shampoo on for a few minutes or as indicated in the bottle. Then rinse the shampoo off and dry the area and put on clean clothes. To be able to further get rid of crabs be sure to wash clothes and linens in hot water and dry them for at least 20 minutes.
Those clothes that cannot be washed can be dry cleaned or you can store them in plastic bags for few days. This will ensure that the crabs will die.
