It does work to some extent, I've have it.. Although the way it goes about teaching you might make you feel you barely know anything for quite a few months. Another thing is, it takes a lot of time sitting down at the computer. What I found myself doing was a few exercises a day which can take anything from 5 minutes up to 40 minutes each but then I'd forget it for a week or so and it would be difficult to pick up where you left off.
Having said that, the voice recognition is excellent and really helps to hone your accent which really is important. The software itself I think is expensive, though they have updated it with a lot more things than when I used it including online games, one to one sessions, etc... Here's how it works. You have a "Lesson" where you learn the content which usually takes 30/40 minutes to go through.
After that it is followed up by nearly 20 smaller 5/10/15 minute activities where you practice different skills such as writing, pronunciation. There are 4 big Lessons in a unit, 4 units in a Level and there are 5 Levels of Spanish so as you can see, there's a massive amount of content. I think you'd struggle to do a unit in a month, unless you have a serious amount of free time.
What I'd recommend for you is to try the software first, to see if you like it. You might say it's illegal, but I call it "Try before you buy". There are plenty of places online that you can get the old version of Rosetta Stone without shelling out $399 or whatever it is these days.
Then, if you like it, you can always buy the new version and get all the new features and perks of actually paying. If you really can't figure out how to download it, click on my profile on here and you can email me and I'll point you in the right direction. Also I'd recommend to you is to buy a book.
As much as we have all this technology, I find the best thing to do is to get a "Learn Spanish" type book, and work through the exercises writing everything down in your own notebook, including words you learn. This way you'll really remember it. I'd recommend the "Pasos Spanish Beginners Course" as that's the one I use and it's very good.
Big book with lots of content on CD. One final thing. Find some Spanish speakers!
I'm half Spanish so when I visit my family, they have lots of friends who speak no English and they've thrown me in the deep end more than once. Out of everything though, I've learned more just speaking to native Spanish speakers and listening to them converse. Hope you have fun learning Spanish.
Buena suerte!
No, it does not work at all. Its method is terrible. There isn't any good software to learn languages.
I've checked many and they're all crap.
The best way to learn Spanish is to take some classes at your local collage or university. Alternately there is a lot of software on the market to teach people to speak Spanish and other languages.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
