Distinction Psychology subsumes everything about how people think and act and tries to winkle out the reasons why in as scientific a way as possible, hopefully. Human behavior just concerns human activities and not so much the inner life or biochemistry behind them. It may or may not be approached scientifically.
May be anecdotal. Wry, allegorical, humorous, etc. And should be a subtopic under psychology..
The level of discourse When I see Psychology as a topic, I tend to think the Asker is looking for a more textbook definition/explanation/diagnosis. The type of information that is best provided by someone with some formal educational training in the matter. But Human Behavior is a little less formal.
I don't feel I need to be an authority or expert in this topic. I can just give my usual brand of common sense advice and don't need to cite sources or statistics to back up my opinion. There's definitely some overlap - but I think there's enough of a distinction that I normally avoid Psychology questions, and answer primarily Human Behavior ones only.
PenguinSage's Recommendations The Grouchy Ladybug Amazon List Price: $7.99 Used from: $2.22 Average Customer Rating: 3.5 out of 5 (based on 60 reviews) The only reference book I care to cite regarding human behavior.
The only difference is which one a person picks when topicking. The redundancing of the topics is only one of the many 'topic' problems here on Askville. When a person asks a question, they choose what topic they want to list it under, they can even add a new topic. So, I could ask "Why do most people like compliments?
" and topic it with "Pepsi", "cats", "hot rollers", "microphones", "bedroom slippers" and "bedroom slipper". Now, before I go any further, I want to point out that Askville is still in beta (which means that they are still able to make changes to the site) and the Askville Team has a very legitimate reason for wanting us (at least initially) to be able to add topics and topic questions as we see fit. That way, they could make sure all the bases are covered.
However, Askville has grown so much, that this is becoming more and more of a problem than an asset. There is the problem of topics being spelled wrong, so then the topic that is spelled wrong, becomes it's own topic. There is the problem of singular/plural topics, so "cat" is one topic and "cats" is another.
Then there is the problem, you pointed out with your question, which is synonyms, so "cat" is one topic and "feline" is another. Now, I am confidant that all of these topic issues will be fixed, however, I know that some people are feeling frustration at how long it is taking..
None! This is just another topicking misnomer. There is no difference here on Askville or anywhere else.
Part of what psychology is, is the study of how we (as humans) react and behave. –noun, plural -gies. 1.
The science of the mind or of mental states and processes. 2. The science of human and animal behavior.3.
The sum or characteristics of the mental states and processes of a person or class of persons, or of the mental states and processes involved in a field of activity: the psychology of a soldier; the psychology of politics. 4. Mental ploys or strategy: He used psychology on his parents to get a larger allowance.

For sure there is a difference! To me, it's like asking if there is a difference in the topics "Askville" and "Askville Community". In one light, kind of a narrow view, they might be considered the same.
But there are many reasons to differentiate between the two. Human behavior is just a part of the psychology topic. I tend to use it when we are looking at just that--human behavior and why we do what we do.
I don't use the psychology topic too much, as it seems to me to cover the clinical or more scientific aspects of life, rather than the personal behaviors. A question like this, asked by Ed, is most definitely in the psychology category: Will we ever understand the neuroanatomical, genetic, biochemical and physical basis of human consciousness in detail? " That's strictly the science aspect of the discipline.
Another example: "what makes it hard for family members to accept a family member who has been diagnosed as bipolar? " However, when I see a question like "Are you good at apologizing? " or "Would you give a stranger a hug?
Why/Why not? " I would consider that to be human behavior. The more quirky, opinion based behavorial questions to me should be categorized as human behavior.
Think Social Science, rather than hard Psychology. I'm wondering what prompted this question, as in my research for this answer I notice that you have used both psychology and human behavior in many of your questions? Many of our categories overlap, and it's up to our own personal definitions as to what categories we feel suits our questions the best.So much is based on our own perspective, our education and our personal experiences.
My degree is in Social Science, with a Criminal Justice major, so I tend to go to the more social aspect of it rather than the clinical.
Since psychology is more of a scientfic description of human behavior is a degree in psychology necessary or a prerequisite to be deemed knowledgeable or an expert in human behavior! .
1. Explain how the circadian, navigational, and orientational mechanisms are inherently i.
How does learning about the abnormal behavior influenced someones perception of psychology.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
