What is the dominant flavor in the cake of a Red Velvet Cake? Some recipes say chocolate but I am not sure of the flavor?

According to a baker from Virginia, Red Velvet Cake does not have a dominant flavor. Instead, Red Velvet Cake is a mix between chocolate cake and yellow cake.
