What is your favorite "active" vacation spot?

Chincoteague and Assateague Island. You stay on Chincoteague, and over on Assateague, there are many hiking trails, places to bike (we like to bike from where we stay over to do stuff on Asseteague--it's about 11 miles one way, and quite flat), and the whole beach--sans boardwalk nonsense--just sand and ocean. I, personally, have never been there during Pony Penning days, nor do I ever plan to, as what I love about the place is that the whole VA side of the island on Asseteague is wildlife sanctuary.

What's the point of going to Wildlife Sanctuary if it's going to be full of people? The town of Chincoteague is a pleasant place, too--nice bookstore and they've done some very productive work in terms of economic development wihout during the town into nothing but a tourist trap--some very nice little botiques, some excellent restaurants.As far as I'm concerned, it's an ideal place to go to have plenty of physical things to do with a minimum of fuss. We love to go in spring and in fall--in fact, October is my favorite time to go there, since I'm not particularly interested in the beach activity any more--I'd rather hike and bike.

A dude ranch To real get away from it all, I would go back to Latigo Ranch in Colorado. Here you lots of horse back riding and can take walks or hike, fly fish and many other things. It is a very active vacation which allows you to explore beautiful scenery.

Latigo is surrounded by the Arapaho National and Routt National Forests in the Colorado Rockies. Being situated there provides endless beautiful trails to ride, hike or walk. If you want you can go white water rafting as well.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
