I'm asking because I'm looking for a hobby to keep me from raiding the refrigerator late at night. I figure if I had a hobby to focus on and that would consume me, I'd forget about eating when I don't really need food (oh, as much as I like askville, that hobby won't help in my quest! ).

Photography Photography can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it. It's a great excuse to travel around even close to home, looking for subjects and you'll find that your eye will start to pick up subjects that you haven't noticed before. The post processing on the computer can be extremely complicated if you want to put in the effort.
If you already have a computer and printer the expense can be pretty minimal. You can buy decent digital cameras in the 100-200 dollar range. Or you can go insane like the rest of us and blow every dime you can scrape together. It's one of those hobbies that you can put in as much or as little time as you want and do it on your own schedule.

Currently, knitting knots and learning all I can learn about wasabi! I have a few hobbies, but lately, my concentration seems be somewhat short. I don't know, maybe cabin fever is the cause.
I do have a few good hobbies, but I adopted a new one recently, I think you know my new passion for wasabi and random wasabi. I finally learned how to knit. I didn't say I was good at knitting, I just said I learned!
I am practicing; however, something about me and knitting needles don't always mesh well. I have tons of yarn, everyone bought me yarn when they found out I was trying to knit. I feel that if I don't progress I can try to beat any record held of the largest ball of yarn.Is definitely a hobby, or therapy, I really haven't decided.
I am leaning more towards hobby. It's fun, too. I have a great time coming here during the day and at night.

Not a hobby I intend on giving up anytime soon! I don't know if this counts as a hobby, but I'll throw it in the mix. I love to READ!
Anything, everything, I'll read it - possibly twice! It keeps your mind going and your vocabulary stimulated! There are some books that I have just fallen into and didn't want it to stop.
Reading is the cheap way to travel! My newest hobby...wasabi. This isn't a hobby, it's becoming an obsession.
I even had wasabi peas today! How can you not want to learn more about? Maybe, if I learn enough about wasabi, I can open a Wasabi Museum!

Balloon Twisting.... I retired about six years ago. I had a lot of fun just reading and playing with the computer for awhile but eventually wanted something to work on --hard to turn off a lifetime of goals and the enjoyment of trying to master something. I cast about for something that I had always wanted to do --preferably one that was as far from my career activities as possible.
I also wanted something that was right-brained and let you exercise a sense of humor and a strange penchant for whimsy. Then it hit me. I had always wanted to know how that fellow in the funny hat twisted those balloons into various animals. So, on a beach trip, I took along a little beginner's booklet and a small bag of long thin balloons.
We had great fun and I learned how to make swords, hats, several types of dogs, birds, hummingbirds and even an alligator. We hung the efforts from the overhead chandelier light fixture and took a lot of digital photographs. When we departed, I took a large garbage bag of balloon animals down to the office and they handed them out to the kids.
What fun --and I was hooked. Now I can make very ornate and complex balloons with many parts and colors such as head-high pink flamencos or juggling clowns. It is still fun. I don't do it for profit but I have found myself doing it for various social, charities and community events.
There is absolutely nothing like seeing someone's eyes light up --including those proverbial 'children of all ages'. It is also pretty challenging if you start trying to make new things, perhaps totally whimsical creations. It satisfies the sculptor and the mad scientist in me.
I love it..
Gardening, by far My favorite hobby is gardening. I love to spend the winter thinking about what I want to plant, and placing my orders in the late winter. I enjoy cleaning out the beds in the spring and finding the little shoots coming out of the ground for another year.
I love to plant annuals in my containers. I love to wander out in the mornings or evenings just to see what grew since the last time I was out. It amazes me how fast some things grow!
I don’t like to pick bouquets, except for other people for special occasions. I think the flowers belong in the garden! In the fall, I even like cutting things back and preparing the beds for their winter’s sleep.
I think I got involved by osmosis. My grandmother and mother would take me along on their “rounds” as they gardened. They’d tell me everything’s name and care.So it seemed quite natural that when I had my own house, I’d put in some gardens too.
Now my son and daughters are doing it too, so it’s passed on to another generation. Probably the best thing I did with it is to pass the love of plants and growing on to my children. I think being close the earth and learning to grow things give an appreciation of the balance of nature.
I also think it taught patience and deferred gratification, as they waited for that tiny seed they planted in March to produce its first tomato in August! Like you, I have many other interests. But nothing else I love, or that means as much to me, as gardening.

Writing I don't know really, it's cathartic. Plus I like the idea that what I write might actually help someone.
Crochet. Why? Because I canmake people happy with it and because I can help others through it.
Working out. Because I feel great after that.
Woodworking. I can create anything I want and it relaxes me will at the same time challenges me. This is one of my creations and it works just like the real thing. It's completely hand made with no nail or scews.
It's held together with hand carved dowels and glue.
Lately for me, its crochet. Its a hobby I was taught when I was young and have recently gotten back into it. I find it relaxing and I feel like I am being productive if I am watching tv at the same time.
Debate, because it stimulates and mentally challenges me.. and I learn alot from the other persons viewpoint and articulationAnd writing, could do this all day for free!
I enjoy collecting football cards. The thrill of the chase finding that hot insert card, Autographed ones are the best, jersey cards and low limited number cards are great too. How about you?
Thinking of business ideas that could easily be started and trying to do them successfully to make money. I've come up with a couple, and not many have had a lot of success. But it's still fun to do.
I make money while using my creative side for thinking.
Singing and painting my shoes. It takes my mind off stress and allows me to enjoy the small things in life.
I love photography, As this my hobby developing me the quality of passion & quick decision making.
I love to write software in my spare time! Usually lots of web development but sometimes app development as well.
I definitely gravitate toward hobbies that require creativity. Honestly, my attention span is so short that my passions change rather often. Playing music has pretty much been a constant in my life.
Coming up with new arts and craft ideas is always fun for me. In the last few months, I have been doing a lot of baking and trying my hand at cake and cookie decorating. I have even tried my hand at archery.
Target shooting is definitely good for stress. So, it is hard to pick a favorite, but whatever I can do that clears my mind, helps me to relax and puts a smile on my face is my favorite activity in that moment.
My favorite hobby is reading and my favorite authors are James Patterson and Stephen King. I believe that when reading your mind makes you think that you are the characters of the book and you play them in your imagination.
Playing the piano. I love music! I love listening and playing music.
1. Scrapbooking ( I love making scrapbook pages so I can make family photos look lovely, special & unquie in my own way. )2. Making jewerly ( I love making my own jewelry because I love making them for myself, female friends and my female family memebers)3. Making Homemade bath stuff ( Why I love making homemade bath so I can sell them or give as gifts for birthday's or Christmas's).
My favorite hobby is cooking/baking because it allows me to enjoy my other favorite hobby (eating).
I enjoy running. The world is beautiful and just running alone with your thoughts in the fresh air feels so good.
I love listening to music while coloring, especially those HUGE posters you can get at Michael's. People tell me I'm good at making everything stand out and pop. Actually, I think I just like making things in general.
Anything that allows my imagination to take control. I get REALLY into it, which lets my mind rest on the realities of life and puts me in a great mood afterwards. I also love exercise, reading, puzzles, writing, video games, and watching/making/analyzing movies (cinema major).
No worries though, I know when to shut up (usually) when watching movies with non-cinema majors.
Ticket collection of train is the favorite of mine because it gives me a lot of fun.
Playing the Guitar is my favorite hobby. Why? Because it is the ultimate escape/stress reliever.
Another great thing about the guitar is it never talks back to me either!
My favorite Hobby is Quilting. It calms me after a busy and stressful day at work, I enjoy picking fabrics and colors for the quilt Im making, and I enjoy watching peoples joy when I present them with the gift.
Cooking! Because no matter what you have to do it, so why not make it fun tasty and worth it!

DreamsofLove96 Anyone following me on Hubpages knows that my passion is homeopathy, studying, talking, learning more and more about the remedies, the methods of practice, the cases and healing stories that provide hope for a fulfilling future overcoming obstacles and challenges in life. I even created a social network platform, Homeopathy World Community, for homeopaths to meet and share with each other and the world. I host a BlogTalkRadio show where I study the Organon of Medicine and talk about current health and medical news topics.
I'm expanding the shows now to add many more sessions and guests to speak. The many opportunities to attend seminars, workshops, conferences, and webinars abound. Attending such sessions motivates me to want to learn even more about homeopathy and the many explorers in this field of medicine and research.
Of course, I also like Hubpages, which provides a place to blog about my passions!
Kool hobbies, you guys! My hobbies are, obviously enough (lol), animals and poetry.... but if I had to choose, I would choose who has always been there for me the most.... even though poetry is my voice, meaning the only way I am able to speak my mind, animals have been there. My knowledge is only about them.
I feel like they know me and understand me... which is why I get all defensive when people talk about the "ugliest" dog in the world, thinking that it is a fact. Its merely an opinion. I never judge by what we think we see; I judge what is hidden, which is why I never fall for the cute guys in school or anything like that.
Animals are amazing and their eyes speak the truth. Their souls tell us who they are. Most Catholics don't believe that animals have souls.
I even heard my theology teacher saying "animals don't have the thought process to have a soul". Okay, wolves can kill better than us, dolphins can paint, dogs can turn on a light with their mouths, dogs go towards something that we point to (just like a baby). Although monkeys cant do the whole follow-where-they-point thing.
The list can go on and on forever. Animals, I believe, have souls. They also have a beloved heart and an intelligent mind.
This is why I am more passionate about them.
Travelling is my favorite hobby. I wish I will go for a world tour some day. Want to see the world through my eyes.
And I am passionate about Latest Technologies.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
