My favorite Perennials|perennial flower is this particular variegated daylily. I have no idea what the name is as I received it from a friend many years ago. It has wonderfully variegated leaves and this delightful orange flower.
I grow it in front of my garden where I can see the leaves. I did let it grow one year in the middle of the garden as it has very tall flower stems but I missed seeing the foliage so it now resides front and center. The variegated foliage isn't stable and every year it throws a few totally green leaves.
I dig these up and divide them off (a quick downward thrust with a shovel cuts them off nicely) every spring so the only foliage left is variegated. The offsets do flower with the same bloom but without variegation. The daylily grows in the full sun or light shade and is one of the easiest of perennial flowers to grow.
But this one is my favorite. It's bright, it's cheerful in the morning light, the foliage is great and I just like daylilies.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
