What kind of video card will fit my computer. The specs say I have 3 PCI slots and there are three. I have purchased two different 512mb cards and neither would fit in the slots.

The slots aren't long enough to insert the cards. I must be buying the wrong kind. I have an Insignia D400a computer with three expansion slots.

Modern video cards are PCI Express or AGP Newer computers have either an AGP slot or, better yet, a PCI Express slot for the video card. I’m not sure they even make a 512MB PCI video card so it was probably either a PCI Express card or an AGP card that you had. Here’s a list of PCI video cards sorted by best rating on Newegg.

PCI is not PCI-e If you have a 512MB video card it is most definitely not a PCI card. It is either an AGP or PCI-e card and the specs say you only have PCI. You would need a newer motherboard for any of the nice video cards.

Make sure it has at least one 16x PCI-e slot.

PCI slots are not for ram Seems like you got a bit confused. The PCI slots are used for video cards, audio cards, modems, network cards but not for ram. Ram is inserted into other slots located directly on the motherboards.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
