What kinds of plants can I grow under Pine Trees?

I have huge pine trees in my garden. I do not want to cut them but they cause so much trouble with all the pine needles and the fact that nothing grows under them. I live in Alabama.

I have a few suggestions... Go to your local nursery and see if they have hostas, lady’s slipper, columbine, jack-in-the-pulpit, ferns, ajuga, and impatiens. These are all plants that do well in shade, but I don’t know if they grow well in Alabama. I am from California.

If they sell them at your local nursery, then they should grow in your area. If you have a problem with acidic soil underneath your pines, I know that azaleas and rhododendrons do well. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
