What natural remedies can be taken to supplement thyroxine after your thyroid has been fully removed?

If you are still looking for a drug free treatment, look up my hub called Pain-free in my Old Age. This is what I believe will help anyone. Bahttp://hubpages.com/hub/Drug-Free-Treatment-for-Ar.

Cindyvine,I happended to see your question and I agree with the previous post. There is no substitute for thyroid hormone, regardless of what the thyroid-booster supplement manufacturers claim. Thyroid hormones contain the iodine molecules that make them what they are in regulating metabolism.

Without a thyroid gland, you are missing protiens that convert iodine into thyroid hormone in the first place, so taking iodine alone will not complete the process. T4 thyroid hormone also converts into T3, which is more metabolically active, which takes place in organs of the body including the liver but withour T4 coming into the body, this other hormone is not converted. After thyroidectomy or ablation of the thyroid gland (removal), there's no way out of needing replacement thyroid hormone.

I hope that helps.

It is more complicated to suggest something natural if thyroid is fully removed then is not - but many people whose thyroid is completely surgically removed - have still very small peace of it left, that can be seen through scanning. Anyhow, if one cell of thyroid tissue is left, this cell can replicate, so healing with natural remedies is very possible and can be successful. Body has it´s own systems to establish balance after removal of thyroid - I know woman who for years after removal of thyroid did not need to take any hormone at all and felt great, but after her perimenopause started - verious health problems started to occur.

Thyroid hormones are interconnected with sexual hormones, with hormones of pituitary gland, etc. So overal hormonal balance need to be established. There is no one remedy that should be taken in such cases, several of them are needed, but which ones can help can be recommended only individualy, because everyone needs something else. There is no universal remedy that would "fit all" people without thyroid.

Homeopathy knows many remedies that gently activate natural production of hormones that are missing: it has solutions for thyroid as well, but only if treatmant is done like I described above - to establish full hormonal balance and at the same time heal all health problems somebody has (problems with immunity etc. ).

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
