What Paris, France neighborhood do you think is the most beautiful?

Long ago I decided that if I lived in Paris I would live on the Ile de la Cité 4th Arrondissement (Ile de la Cité/Ile St-Louis & Beaubourg) It seems as if the 4th has it all: Notre-Dame on Ile de la Cité, and Ile St-Louis and its aristocratic town houses, courtyards, and antiques shops. Ile St-Louis, a former cow pasture and dueling ground, is home to dozens of 17th-century mansions and 6,000 lucky Louisiens, its permanent residents. Seek out Ile de la Cité’s two Gothic churches, Sainte-Chapelle and Notre-Dame, a majestic structure that, according to poet E.E. Cummings, "doesn’t budge an inch for all the idiocies of this world."

You’ll find France’s finest bird and flower markets along with the nation’s law courts, which Balzac described as a "cathedral of chicanery. " It was here that Marie Antoinette was sentenced to death in 1793. The 4th is also home to the freshly renovated Centre Pompidou, one of the top three attractions in France.

After all this pomp and glory, you can retreat to place des Vosges, a square of perfect harmony and beauty where Victor Hugo lived from 1832 to 1848 and penned many of his famous masterpieces.(s house is now a museum. ) http://frit.lss.wisc.edu/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=402&;g2_serialNumber=2 -layyla-'s Recommendations Streetwise Paris Map - Laminated City Street Map of Paris, France - with integrated metro map including lines and stations Amazon List Price: $7.95 Used from: $4.09 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 58 reviews) Rick Steves' Paris 2008 (Rick Steves) Amazon List Price: $17.95 Used from: $9.99 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 86 reviews) Quiet Corners of Paris Amazon List Price: $14.95 Used from: $8.92 Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 (based on 8 reviews) .

Hands down - Montemarte. The view from Sacre Couer is not to be believed. However, the Eiffel Tower at night is beautiful.

Oh, I wish I was back there.

Layyla- replied to post #2: 3 lol...Paris memories come flooding back. I haven't studied French in years and stumble through it when I'm there. The natives seem to appreciate it that I try.

I can read your post but I can't reply in kind. The mention of chocolate crepes remind me of the last time I was in Paris. It was a very cold day in April and we had walked through the Tuileries and the wind was cutting through our clothes. It left us so cold and hungry.

As we exited the garden there was a vendor selling chocolate crepes. We couldn't resist! They were sooooo good!

I can taste them right now in my memory and my mouth is watering. I love the view from Montemartre too but I had to go with where I had always dreamed of living. Maybe I'll spend a year there after I retire and finally get to see all of Paris.

And, I think every woman should be kissed thoroughly and passionately on top of the Eiffel Tower at least once in her life by the man she loves. Luckily for me it's something I've experienced more than once. *big grin* .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
