They don't decide that you get the job just from your application. When they need to hire someone, they look thru applications they've gotten and pick out several people to interview. They'll call or email and ask you to come in and talk to them, then they'll pick someone to hire from the people they interview.
If you haven't heard anything in a couple weeks, stop by or call and ask to talk to the person who does the hiring - ask if they've reviewed your application, and if they're hiring. If you don't hear anything in 6 months, apply again. In the meantime, apply other places too.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
