What would you do if you found an ATM machine with a debit card still in it?

I have found a few actually, not all in one day. I've taken it in to the bank figuring someone will come back looking for it.

The atm machine leave the card in the slot for only so long - beeping loudly - so the person who left it in there is still in the area - then the ATM sucks the card in and the person has to go to the bank to get it back - if they knew where they left it! I was that person. And people called me back as I was walking away from ATM to get my card back.

Most folks ARE honest because they have empthy - and believe in Karma. I don't know how many time I lost my wallet - only to be returned or a little boy at the gas station running up to me to give it back.

I would take it to the bank that issued the card.

I believe in Karma. I would return it to the bank.

Return it to the bank .... no question...I can't imagine the stress of losing something as important as a bank card..

I have given them back to the bank. That said, I one time couldn't get to the bank when they were open until several days later and the bank tellers seemingly became "suspicious" of me for holding on to it for what they perceived to be a "long time". Excuse me for being at work!

The next time it happened, I dropped it into the bank's night drop-slot on the side of the building because I knew I couldn't get to the bank during business hours any time soon and sure wasn't going to be accused of anything I'd never do! On a different note, I know that ATM/Tyme machines often shred cards that are left in the slot for too long. I was aware that could happen before it happened to me.

The only problem when it happened to me was that I didn't leave the card there - I was waiting for the machine to give it back to me after I had my money and the machine malfunctioned. I went to that bank the next day (not my bank) and informed them of the malfunction. I told them how I could hear their machine shred it and they confirmed it was shredded.

I then had to go to my bank to order a new card that took weeks to arrive.

That has happened to me. I gave it to a teller. Unfortunately, I was so pre-occupied once I left my cash at an ATM.It was gone a few minutes later.

Vanished forever from me. I'm more careful now.

Cut it up because I don't trust the people in the bank nor police officers to return it.

Give it to the nearest security or police station.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
