I'm not sure what kind of wine you like, but one of my favorites that is very reasonable is Yellow Tail Syrah, and it's only about $6.00.
Take a look at Wine Library TV. Gary Vaynerchuk is hilarious and can teach you quite a bit. According to his ratings the best sub $20 wine he has tasted is "SAINT JEAN DU BARROUX L'OLIGOCENE" for $17.78.

This varies over time but the most recent value in this price range is Cameron Hughes, Lot 93, Tempranillo 2004. Available on their website for $21, and might be slightly lower at Costco or Sam's Club, the wine delivers the same flavor profile of a $50 Rioja red. My full review is linked in the sources below.
Tualatin Valley Early Muscat semi sparkling wine, and the Willamette Valley Vineyard 2004 reisling.
Good resource for this would be Mr John C Dvorak. He often tweets great cheap Cosco finds.
Catena Malbec, Argentina $19.99 at the LCBO.
Yalumba Antique Reserve Tawny Port This is an outstanding Port from Australia. Enjoy aromas of dried fruits, chocolate, and caramel and complex sweetness ending with a dry finish. This is a rich Port.(Half bottle for around $15) Port lovers definitely need to try this wine.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
