I'd love to have smooth transitions between video clips, copy them onto disks so that the disks could be used in various computers and in various DVD players. I prefer to not have to go out and buy a video movie camera as my digital STILL camera actually takes good video clips, but the various software I've tried has been useless. Depends if you are Mac or Windows I use a Mac and use iMovie HD to produce video from clips I have shot with my digital still camera. It's not hard to use and you can then export your video in a variety of sizes and formats. You simply drag your clips into the clip window and put them together with transitions, titles, music, whatever you want.
I've then burned the video to a DVD easily. I did use Windows for a long time and used Windows Movie Maker with good results, though it's not as sophisticated as iMovie. Both iMovie and Movie Maker are included with their respective OS's, so no expense is involved..
If you get an Apple computer, you'll be able to do out of the box Apple computer's come with iPhone standard. With a MacBook Pro, for example, you drag and drop and arrangement of photos into a folder, then burn them onto a DVD or a CD with just one click. The software automatically creates a variety of very professional-looking transitions.
Make professional-quality videos is just as easy with iMovie. You can edit clips, add transitions, special effects -- even music and special effect sounds. All very intuitive and easy to use.
Macs cost a bit more, but the ease of use and the included software that lets you do multimedia magic with no experience is a large reason why.
