Similar questions: proper amount tip bartender mixed drink beer.
Depends on the order in my opinion... Usually bars will price their drinks so that you either pay a quarter or 50 cents over the dollar amount. They do that so you can tip the bartender the extra 75 cents or 50 cents change. Otherwise, if it is an exact dollar amount with no change I will tip a dollar.
This is for single drinks or maybe two drinks. For three to five drinks I will usually give the change plus a dollar or two (depending on whether I am ordering beers, mixed drinks, or shots). If the drink takes more effort to put together I might add an extra dollar.
For a table full of drinks I usually give anywhere between $3 and $5. The easiest way to solve this problem is to put your credit card down and start a tab. While this can backfire and leave you with an enormous tab at the night's end if you get too friendly while drinking, it will allow you to check out the total in one clean sweap and determine a fair tip based on the overall delivery of drinks.
Just remember, if you take care of your bartender they will usually take care of you. Sources: Too many nights of insane drunkeness..
Ahh, tipping the bartender! It all depends! Did the bar keep pour a good drink?
Was he prompt in your service? Or do you want him to wait on you faster? People are people, if your in a very crowded bar.
I would leave a $5 tip for the first drink(s). That will give you a better chance of better service later. The wait staff does keep track of who leaves tips and who tips what.
Then I would tip $1 per round. (But I always follow the 20 percent rule for tipping. ) I had a girlfriend that was a great tipper, she never had to wait for a drink.
Hell, they had it waiting for her before her as- hit the bar stool.
$1 per drink I was a bartender for a couple years (waitressed a long time too), but I was always happy with a $1/drink..no matter if it was a beer or mixed drink...Of course I did not make a show of making mixed drinks (flipping bottles and all that fancy stuff- they do that to make bigger tips)... But I think it's proper to tip a dollar a drink- If you order a beer and a Tom Collins- tip $2 If maybe you order something a little more complicated like a Long Island Iced Tea, you can give $2 since it's a bigger drink, but I would only expect $1... Because of always working in a "tipped" industry, I always tend to tip more...I always give $2/drink, but that's just me.... Sources: me amyt76's Recommendations TIP THE BARTENDER! 11 oz. Its not so much tipping as over tipping that I believe in. You all ways tip minimum 15 percent and at least 20 if you want stiffer drinks. If you buy a beer thats 3.50 and you pay with a five...you cannot put the 50 cents down the first time.
You have to put down paper...thats one dollar folks. After the first purchase you can then tip the change every other beer....got it. While were at it the same thing goes for the barista at your local coffee shop.
Only after you have developed a healthy history of tipping can you get away with "Clank"---my wifes self coined term for tipping change.
