You obviously waited way too long to repair your brakes . The sound you heard and the reason the pedal went to the floor is because one of your brake rotors had been worn so badly from the pads being gone and it being metal to metal that one of your brake rotors collapsed and it broke all the inner cooling fins off the rotor . When that happened , it allowed the brake caliper piston to move outward much farther than usual and this is why the pedal dropped .
You know you need rotors and pads but you may also need the brake caliper on the damaged side . If it happens again to another side , it is likely that you could lose all braking ability. It is possible that the sliders on your caliper were froze up causing the pads to stay somewhat applied against the rotor until it was metal to metal.
You need to be thorough in your repairs if you do it yourself or this will happen again.
Well you could have screwed up a number of things by ignoring the problem. The squeal bar on the brake pads could have broken off causing the scraping sound to stop. That's if your lucky.
There could also be damage to the brake calipers. I've seen people wear their brakes until the fins in the rotor are exposed and pads worn until the backing pad was visible. I've seen calipers where the rubber boot around the piston was melted because they were stuck and the people kept driving on them Nothing is out of the question with brakes.
The warning light could also be a sign that you have an anti-lock sensor problem so you may want to check that. Future advice; don't ignore problem on your car. While you may have no time your car has no capacity for forgiveness.
Small problems become big problems very quick if you let them.
If you chewed through a caliper piston there wld be no brake pressure any more. It sounds like you through 1 or both of the pads out on that wheel. Whatever the case may be don't keep driving the car till you find/fix problem!
Wht you mean you had zero time? Your gnna end up with zero time & zero $$$ costs climb quick with brake service issues. Or the worst case option you need to stop fast and the pedal just hits the floor then what?
Sounds like you busted a cylinder or caliper.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
