I am a born Canadian Citizen. I have nothing against Queen Elizabeth ll but I don't believe you need loyalty or allegiance to her, her heirs or successors to be a good Canadian. Same goes with King Charles, as I have said.
We should pledge allegiance to Canada. The Law. The Land.
The Values and the Multiculturalism. All the things which Canada truly is. Nobody wanting to be a citizen of Canada should have to swear allegiance to a foreign monarch, who's very existence and position is contrary to Canada's beliefs of egalitarianism and merit over blood.
It does not represent the Canadian Identity or ideals in any matter. I once against say that I have nothing against the royal family personally, I just don't wanna have them as a head of state. And I'm not willing to move to the U.
S to have that. A born Canadian can't be head of state of Canada and that is wrong. And I am a CITIZEN.
Not a subject. The term 'subject' is degrading.
Well at leat 1 thing is wrong with your question. There is no guarantee that Charles will be king. The reins may be handed off to William.
Although Charles is next in line he may abdicate in favor of William. What will happen remains to be seen. As for Canadiabns embracing the couple--well--Some may--some will say so what-and others don't give a darn what goes on in Britain.
I don't know how many times we have to tell Americans that the Queen is only symbolic in Canada. How many time do we have to say we are an independant countryShe has very little say in what goes on in parlaiment and what say she does have is ritualistic and never goes against what our elected officials want. She does not control anything that goes on in our country or our laws or the way the country is run.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
