When it comes to children, do you agree or disagree with this old saying; "do as I say not as I do"?

I disagree with that statement. Parents should set the example for their children. Children learn from being shown.

I would not want my children to get bad habits from me.

I will raise my children to be open minded, not force upon them any type of religion as they should discover world with their eyes in their own experience, make their own conclusions, not how I percieve it. :).

I can see the point of this saying, but children always do what they have seen- it might not be right now but they will in the future. Haven't you ever caught yourself saying or doing something that you parents did/said that you swore you never would.

For me it depends on the situation. Generally I would say to lead by example because children are known for following in the footsteps of those they view as important in the world. That isn't to say, however, that there aren't situations in which you should not restrain from partaking in a particular activity because your children are watching.

Just be sure to explain to them that the activity is for older people and someday, when they are older, they will be able to make their own decisions about wanting to participate in those activities.

One thing is sure, children do as you do, not as you say!

I absolutely agree. I'm the adult and the mother,I make the rules. My daughter told me before that she wanted to be just like me and my response to her was,I don't want you to be like me,I want you to be better than me.

I disagree also. I think parents should set the example because like someone mentioned above, they do as we do not as we say!

I disagree. This teaches children that hypocrisy is okay. Parents should practice what they preach.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
