When Jesus gave his disciples the power to "bind and loose," was that compatible with "scripture alone"?

Bind" and "loose" are rabbinical terms referring to the binding, or handing out penance for, sins, and loosing, or forgiving sins. He gave that power to His Apostles. Later, in Acts, the Apostles began laying on of hands, ordaining other men and beginning Apostolic Succession, passing that power on to the new priests upon whom they had laid their hands.

Today, that power is given to all men who have a valid priesthood via Apostolic Succession.

To absolve sin, to the valid Church and to the sucessors of the Apostles, the valid bishops and presbyters/priests To define doctrine, the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, especially the college of the bishops in communion with the Pope, especially in Ecumenical Council, and the Pope when speaking ex cathedra.
