When sitting shiva is it okay to give away or throw out some of the food that has been brought to the home?

Yes. It is a custom that got started that is not true. But one has to be very careful to make sure that the mourner has what to eat, as s/he should not leave the house.(unless there is no food and s/he needs to eat, or life threating, etc.).

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
