J. Loring Thayer is a publisher..... I don’t know if this is what you are looking for. It is off by 2 years and probably not about dog diseases.
This is all I could find by that publisher, along with one from amazon listed underneath called "Training Your Retriever". I don't know if this will help or not. Maybe this could help you find other books published by J Loring Thayer.
There was nothing on eBay when I checked........... Good luck! Kennel Secrets. Ashmont.Illustrated.1983.

This is the first edition of "DOGS THEIR MANAGEMENT AND TREATMENT IN DISEASE. " I think the book you are looking for was published by j. Loring thayer publisher in 1885, with several subsequent editions.
The author is often listed as "Ashmont," but the author's name is Joseph Franklin Perry. Ashmont is the name of a proprietary medicine company that put out "cures" for mange and other diseases. The Ashmont name was used when publishing the books, presumably for its advertising value.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
