I've had trouble with those prepaid VISA cards. I gave one to my mother for Christmas and after a few purchases the card "locked." The reason is that the merchant didn't immediately send the final amount, so VISA locked the card to prevent my mother from spending over the value left on the card.
When she used the card later a restaurant, she was completely embarrassed when the card came back "declined." I even called VISA and they said it'd be locked for 7 business days unless I could get the merchant to fax a copy of the receipt and a letter promising that was the total amount on "company letterhead" to VISA. In short: don't buy one.
A gift card or straight-up cash. The gift card is nice if you only want to shop one place and you think you can spend the total amount. The problem is that any small amount left on the card cannot be refunded as cash, so unless you know you can hit the gift card value within a dollar or two, you'll either be leaving money on the table or spending some of your own.
The benefit of cash is that you can spend it anywhere, but it's not something you can open on Christmas, so I suppose you have to assess what you really want to buy and what you want to do on Christmas - know the cash is in your account or open a gift card.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
