I strongly suggest anyone interested in the rapture concept read "The Rapture Exposed" by Barbara Rossing. Whether or not you believe in a Christian God, you should educate yourself about where the idea of the rapture came from. The bible does not speak of it, and in fact, it's quite a contradiction to the message that Jesus died for your sins, and in doing so, defeated evil.
If you believe the rapture is coming, and that evil will cover the earth, you must inherently believe Jesus did not defeat evil in his sacrifice for you. Therefore, you don't really believe in the passion, and are not a Christian. There isn't even really a word for what your beliefs are, except perhaps "muddled."
The idea of the rapture came about many, many generations after the life of Jesus, and has become a profit machine. The "Left Behind" franchise is just a disgusting money-grubbing greed fest, and those who sell fear of the rapture to obtain control over their "flock" are equally shameful. Read the bible for yourself, rather than allowing others to tell you what it says.To really understand it, study ancient history (not with a priest or bible study group, but in an objective history class).
If you do not understand the historical construct in which the bible was written (i.e. The largely oral story telling tradition that did NOT assume stories were literal or that contradictory tales couldn't both be true in a sense) you do not understand the bible. To conclude: Pat Robertson is not your friend. Repeat that a few times.
They don't go anywhere. Sorry about that. When the body dies, consciousness dies.No consciousness, no nothing.
I think they go to New Orleans..... That's where they found Tupac!
You know I got knocked out one time and didn't even know I was and I didn't see aything didn't hear anything, and I think thats what happens when you die ..nothing you just die,or sleep as you said.
I believe that people who enter the gates of heaven do so after they die. If not, where would people who burnt sleep? Or people who exploded or something... In a religious aspect, it is interesting to think about, but is it really that important?
If you are sleeping, you won't realize you are waiting. You will never remember the wait, so either way it will be like going staight to heaven. Of course some people believe that people will rise out of the ground to fight off satan.
The most important thing for people who believe in God, is just to be ready no matter the time or place.
Although the Bible makes mention of those who trust in Christ to have fallen asleep, other passages seem to indicate that the consciousness is still very much awake and in fact present with the Lord. For example, Paul writes: "We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord ... we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. " (2 Cor.5:6-8) "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.... My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.
But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account. " (Phil.1:20-24) It seems that he's talking about a state of being in which he's separated from his physical body, but still conscious and in contact with God. The passages that discuss believers in Christ "falling asleep," when coupled with passages regarding the resurrection, seem to imply to me that the term "sleep" is chosen to reflect that what is happening is not a permanent state.
When you go to sleep, you wake up again. When your soul is separated from your body (death), they will be rejoined again (the resurrection).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
