The fuel filter is forward of the passenger rear wheel, undernieth the vehicle, externally connected to the fuel pump. A bracket will have to be removed to access the filter Answer There is a protective guard held in with 10mm bolts just around the passenger side right rear tire. Remove this guard and you will see the fuel filter it is held to the car by a single 10mm bolt just above the filter itself remove this.
The fuel lines are connected with plastics tabs there should be 3 lines, be careful removing the lines as the fuel system is pressurized! Your new fuel filter will come with new plastic tabs, so don't be worried about breaking the old ones, install the new tabs the old ones may look okay, but having one fail is not fun Answer Very easy. Only requires stubby Philips head screwdriver, 10mm ratchet and 3/8 inch box wrench.
The splash guard needs to be removed with the 10mm rachet (one bolt) and Philips head (two screws). Once that is removed you can see the fuel filter assembly which is held on by the 3/8 inch bolt. The connectors for the lines are snap-connect fittings and the new fuel filters have the same bends in the lines as the old filter, as well as color-coded fittings that cannot be mixed up.Be sure to relieve the fuel system pressure from under the hood before you start; it's the schraeder valve on the horizontal cylinder near the dipstick Answer Jack you car up rear passanger side, if you look just behind where the back bottom of the door is you should see a metal plate, remove this the fule fiter is just under this plate is is held on by one bolt Answer if your changing the filter be sure to use all new fule line tabs these are the plastic tabs that connect the fule filter lines to the fule lines of the car, be sure you depressurise the fule system before you change the filter, to do this locate your fule rail a long silver rail above your intake there is a black cover in the center that can be screwed off using a rag and a small screaw driver hold the rag under and around the valve and press the small nipple in the center of the valve until all pressure is removed Answer rt side pass side just behind the frt dr and underneth the car.
It is under a protective metal guard held on to floor pan with 3 bolts.
You need to first jack the car off the ground, the fuel filter is located in front of the fuel tank. A new fuel filter is inexpensive and easy to find. One end of the filter needs to be disconnected with a wrench, around 5/8".
The other end is a very simple, somewhat fragile plastic clip that should be no problem to disconnect once you look at it for a minute or so. Make sure and keep lots of rags handy, because once you unhook the filter, it will leak all over the place. Once you have the old one out, installing the new one will be simple.
I have a 2000 alero and the styles haven't changed. The filter is located under the vehicle at the rear seat area, between the fuel tank and the rear compartment pan. It is very tight to get to.
It has a fitting 5/8" I believe, & a pressure clip.
