Which foods are specifically New York City, New York in nature?

Deep dish pizza is definitely not a New York specialty, it comes from Chicago. New York is known for its large slices of super thin crust pizza that can easily be folded in half. Many say it is the New York water that makes the crust so perfect.

Street vendors are everywhere in New York, so hot dogs are another food that come to mind when people think of the city. Because of the diversity there are many types of food people like to enjoy when visiting as you can find specialty places of all kinds. Due to the large Puerto Rican population you can find lots of Puerto Rican food.

Other ethnic food establishments include Italian, Jamacian, Albanian, and Jewish. The bagels in New York are somewhat famous as well. They are considered some of the best and not fluffy like cake as they can be in other parts of the country.
