Why did the Board of Trustees decide to freeze tuition costs this year at Columbus State Community College?

The Columbus State Community College's Board of Trustees was able to freeze its tuition fee costs because it experienced student growth and sustained fiscal strength. There will be no tuition free increase in the school year 2010-2011. Board Chairman William Dolan said that keeping college tuition affordable as possible is just the right thing to do for it helps students, the college, as well as the state.

The current tuition fee rate is $79 per credit hour all through the next spring. The student have paid this rate for the fifth consecutive year already which amounts to just over $3,500 a year for a full time student. During winter quarter of 2010 the board officially raised tuition 3.5 percent but this was immediately waived for the remainder of the 2009-10 academic year.

This waiver provided the board with with an alternative to asses an increase that may be necessary later. Gh number of enrollment with costs savings through several initiative have helped Columbus State maintain a stable tuition rate and was able to provide excellent services to the students at the same time.
