Yes and No. For most people, college is a waste of time and money. That money could have been invested in real training, a start up business, and the time could have been spent working.
However, for certain degrees college is very important. If you are going into a profession that is regulated by a government mandated guild, college is necessary. Teachers, Lawyers, and Doctors all mandate certain years of college to lower competition and raise their own profits. So if you go into these industries you can make a lot of money.
The other case, is Engineering Fields like Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Aerospace... etc. It is almost impossible to teach yourself. The skills that you learn in the classroom and laboratories necessary for these jobs. These jobs make a ton of money and are worth it if you are wiling to work.
I have friends who have made 50 to 80 thousand dollar starting salaries right out of college. Some even got signing bonuses upon being hired. The only exception is the Automotive industry, which has been laying off engineers.
So in conclusion? Yes for : Teachers, Lawyers, Doctors, and Engineers Everyone else? No.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
