I was Baptist for most of my life. I converted to Roman Catholic. Your "friend" online is not your friend.
The core doctrine of a Baptist is baptism of adults only. This is a doctrine that has come into existence in only the the minority churches in the 1800s, including both Baptists and Pentecostals. All other mainstream protestants practice infant baptism.
Adult-only baptism is clearly wrong and shows they are not "closer to the Bible." See baptism doctrines here http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... Baptists are not closer to the bible because they can not be more wrong on this most essential of sacraments. They have completely misinterpreted scripture by confusing faith with baptism.
In regards your pentecostal friend thinking other churches are "boring" well this person has exposed that their motivation for church is not in the right place. Return to your Catholic roots. Attend RCIA.
Learn what it is you would be giving up before leaving. As a convert, I envy your Catholic heritage and wished I had that as a youth. Nothing can be closer to God than the sacrament of the Eucharist.
You only get that through the one, holy, Catholic and apostolic church.
The Protestant versions of the bible are missing 7 books that were removed by Martin Luther.. There are over 38,000 denominations and non denominations of Protestant religions and every single one of them all have a different interpretation of the bible. And every single one of them disagrees with each other. Jesus Christ only established one Church in 33AD and that is the Catholic Church, not all of those Protestant religions.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
