I'm a liberal and I have to say, a lot of those "examples" are wrong. You've made "Republican" synonymous with "Conservative" and you've alleged that the Republicans opposed the Bill of Rights? Uh ... There was no "Republican" party as we know it today at that particular time in our history.
Conservative, by definition, means conserving land for public use. Republicans got that name when they established the National Parks and wilderness. Republicans put more land under protection than Democrats since it is a Republican project for the past 100 yrs or so.
Bush actually extended the protection to large areas of the ocean. You really need to study history. No party is good, no party is bad.
They are made up of individuals, and work best when they work together. Compromise is the secret to a successful nation. When the right and left work together, they pull towards the center and voila...moderate legislation.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
