Dogs yawn pretty much for the same reasons we yawn. When they are tired and stressed. caninenannyservices.com/UnderstandingDog... ~quote "A dog may yawn if he's tired, but more generally, it's an indicator of stress.

With yawning, the dog is trying to displace the stress, or inner conflict, with a safe, neutral behavior. " ~end/quote One big mystery that I can't solve is that whenever I see my dog yawn, it makes me yawn... but I have never seen her yawn after watching me yawn!

Why do dogs...... like to get into the litter box and eat the cat poop. AND since I live in the country, sniff out Deer poop! This is driving me nutz.My Cockapoo and St. Bernard just love it.

I sometimes have to chase the dogs thru the field and they run since they have it in their mouths. Asked by Skippy™ 41 months ago Similar questions: dogs Pets > Dogs.

Disgusting isn't it Because its filled with the food cats eat only digested. I called it "gourmet kitty poo" Many dogs love it. Mine do, I have gone to the point of enclosing the littler box with and old wooden stair gate, the holes are big enough for the cats but not the dogs, worse part is I had no idea they were engorging themselves on it, no more kissy face, I can tell you that.

There isn't much more you can do, since you live in the country and allow them to run free, they will find it. Or fence a yard area and/or when you want to take them on a field hike put them on a leash. When I was growing up in the country on a farm, our dogs dragged home so many things, some I couldn't even verify what they looked like at one time.

Rotted carcass's, so that's all I can tell you. I wish I could give you a hint on how to stop them. Oh beware one dog loved to roll in it, talk about a surprise at the door.. P>>>U .

It's called Coprophagia, and it's an eating disorder There are a lot of reasons your dogs might be doing this, and it’s really pretty common. If their food isn’t high-quality, they may be trying to make up for nutritional deficits; if they’re not getting enough food, it could be hunger! I’m lucky-my dog doesn’t do it, but I’ve seen a lot of dogs that do.

Your vet may be able to make suggestions about how to get them to stop. My vet said his dogs did it for a while, then stopped, and then started again when they got a new dog that had the habit! They live in the country, too, and the dogs can access cow poop.

Law of nature your dog is lacking certain nutrients that can be found or sniffed out in what ever the cator deer consumed.

Cat poo and deer poo! That's all! You are lucky.

Dogs love poo in most forms (sometimes each other's) my theory on dogs liking cat poo is that cat food, especially the canned cat food is undeniably irristible to dogs. I have 4 dogs, and one cat inside and one that goes in and out-- ihave a 30 lb bag of dry cat food that I keep for the outside barn cats (and chickens love cat food too) and more often then not,if the bag is not closed tightly the dogs have their head stuck inside the bag, munching away. The fact that most of the food that is passed through the GI tract of a cat, especially canned cat food, probably a large portion of it is not digested--cats are basically sedentary and don't burn off too many calories, especially if they sleep 22 hours of the day.As far as the deer poo, I wouldn't worry about it (i'm not sure if you worry about it) but my dogs not only eat POO of other species, they roll in it.

You have a cockapoo and a St. Bernard which have somewhat had their hunting instincts bred out of them, so the urge to roll in it may not be as strong. (Predators will roll in scat of their prey in order to mask their own smell.) I have heard that rabbit poo is very high in calcium, and that rabbits will re-eat their poo in order to give it a second go thru the GI tract. I live on a farm with some rabbits, chickens and cows.

The chicken poo is (luckily) left alone by the dogs, (although there is a lot of it) and they seem to prefer the cat, rabbit and cow poo. I'm not sure what it is about leaf-eating animals that would attract dogs' to eat their poo, but it's just my observation that almost all dogs will, maybe because it goes back to that predator/prey relationship, or because a large part of the cow's diet is not digested fully. If you want to do more reading on the subject, you can research; Coprophagia.

There are many instances of species that eat their own or their offsprings, or their mother's fecal matter. Oh, and I almost forgot, in the wild, wolves will regurgitate food to feed to their pups. When they go out on a hunt and can not bring large portions back to their dens, they will basically feed from their own stomaches to pups that are in the weaning stage.
