Why do dogs yawn?

There isn't much more you can do, since you live in the country and allow them to run free,they will find it. Or fence a yard area and/or when you want to take them on a field hike put them on a leash. When I was growing up in the country on a farm, our dogs dragged home so many things, some I couldn't even verify what they looked like at one time.

Dogs love poo in most forms (sometimes each other's) my theory on dogs liking cat poo is that cat food, especially the canned cat food is undeniably irristible to dogs. I have 4 dogs, and one cat inside and one that goes in and out-- ihave a 30 lb bag of dry cat food that I keep for the outside barn cats (and chickens love cat food too) and more often then not,if the bag is not closed tightly the dogs have their head stuck inside the bag, munching away. The fact that most of the food that is passed through the GI tract of a cat, especially canned cat food, probably a large portion of it is not digested--cats are basically sedentary and don't burn off too many calories, especially if they sleep 22 hours of the day.As far as the deer poo, I wouldn't worry about it (i'm not sure if you worry about it) but my dogs not only eat POO of other species, they roll in it.

You have a cockapoo and a St. Bernard which have somewhat had their hunting instincts bred out of them, so the urge to roll in it may not be as strong. (Predators will roll in scat of their prey in order to mask their own smell.) I have heard that rabbit poo is very high in calcium, and that rabbits will re-eat their poo in order to give it a second go thru the GI tract. I live on a farm with some rabbits, chickens and cows.

The chicken poo is (luckily) left alone by the dogs, (although there is a lot of it) and they seem to prefer the cat, rabbit and cow poo. I'm not sure what it is about leaf-eating animals that would attract dogs' to eat their poo, but it's just my observation that almost all dogs will, maybe because it goes back to that predator/prey relationship, or because a large part of the cow's diet is not digested fully. There are many instances of species that eat their own or their offsprings, or their mother's fecal matter. Oh, and I almost forgot, in the wild, wolves will regurgitate food to feed to their pups. When they go out on a hunt and can not bring large portions back to their dens, they will basically feed from their own stomaches to pups that are in the weaning stage.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
