Because there has almost never been a republican senator from Massachusetts. Also the democrats loose the "super majority" needed to break a filibuster. Although they didn't do anything with it anyway.
I don't understand why anyone would be afraid that the democrats have too much power anyway, even if they were out to create a socialist regime they would fail, the democrats are a divided party. They hardly vote in unison, which is why the republicans were able to stop them regardless of the 60 vote majority. The remaining republicans all subscribe to the same ideals and vote as a party.
From 2000 to 2008 they voted in line with the president. And lastly, Obama is nowhere near the most powerful president in recent history or ever, and it is weird to me that every defeat the democrats face is supposed to be a referendum on Obama.
It's because of the health bill that the Democrats are trying to pass. That 1 Republican can change a lot. Also, that state hasn't had a Republican senator in a LONG time(or so I heard).
The state is usually Democratic and when a long-standing Democratic(in this case) goes to the other side, it's most definitely a big thing.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
