Why do people think the bible says that a rape victim has to marry their rapist?

The Lord our God is against fornication & adultery… be it consensual or forced. The half of the 10 Commandments, with its multi-layered meanings, is against rape. You can “steal” a person, which is abduction, which He established a death penalty to a rapist before ever reaching marriage.

Just because He commanded a rapist to marry the rape victim does not it will bold will for him. I do not have enough space to give you a long example. You will have to email me for it.

This verse is part of the Jewish Law Covenant, which Christians are not obliged to obey. Ephesians 4:23-24 The law to which you refer does not deal with rape, but consensual sex. Deuteronomy 22:28, 29 28 “If a man happens to meet a virgin girl who is not engaged and he seizes her and lies down with her and they are discovered, 29 the man who lay down with her must give the girl’s father 50 silver shekels, and she will become his wife.

Because he humiliated her, he will not be allowed to divorce her as long as he lives. The reason why Bible students say that this is consensual sex is because that is the way it is written in the Hebrew. Amnon raped Tamar, and Shechem raped Dinah, and both men were put to death, but the women were allowed to live.

Zimri and Cozbi engaged in consensual sex, and they both were executed. (2 Samuel chapter 13; Genesis chapter 34; Numbers 25:1, 6-9, 15, 18) The ungodly thing here is fornication. The modern media minimizes the moral wrong there and even presents it as normal, even healthy.

But the reality is, fornication is a serious sin, because it deprives men and women from entering into marriage with a clean start. To value chastity before marriage protects the family by discouraging prostitution and loose sexual behavior for both the man and the woman, which was common among the pagan nations surrounding the Israelites. STDs would be more of a problem then, because they did not have the medicines that we have today, and even now, treatment for many such diseases are prohibitively expensive for most people.. Knowing that they would have to get married if found out would discourage promiscuity.

Also, the fornicating couple could become parents. The children need someone to take care of them. Marriage also preserves the inheritance rights of the children.

The concept of sexual morality and responsibility does carry on to the Christian arrangement. Jesus stated that to do less than that is "defiling a man" Matthew 15:18-19. God's word also says that fornication is "sinning against your own body." 1 Corinthians 6:18 Sexual morality and marriage are Christian, moral and responsible for everyone involved.

Hebrews 13:4 4 Let marriage be honorable among all, and let the marriage bed be without defilement, for God will judge sexually immoral people and adulterers.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
